H. P. Lovecraft: Letters to Richard F. Searight

Product Description

H. P. Lovecraft: Letters to Richard F. Searight edited by David E. Schultz, S. T. Joshi, and Franklyn Searight, first published July 1992.

Lovecraft’s letters to Richard F. Searight (1902-1975) represent the largest body of letters to a single correspondent published to date.  The 35 letters and postcards, spanning the years 1933-1937, deal with a wide range of subjects: Searight’s fiction and poetry (including the famous story “The Sealed Casket”, which introduced the Eltdown Shards to Lovecraft’s mythos), philosophy and ethics, genealogy, and mutual colleagues such as Clark Ashton Smith and Robert E. Howard.  Prefacing the volume, which is extensively annotated by David E. Schultz and S. T. Joshi, is a lengthy biography of Searight by his, Franklyn Searight.
